Sr. Investigative Risk and Fraud Analyst

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Sr. Investigative Analyst is part of the Loss Prevention Ross Investigations and Safety Center (RISC). The RISC is an Investigative and Safety command center which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within a flexible business model to help support investigations, execute travel monitoring, law enforcement requests, and detailed analysis for shortage trends. RISC serves as the corporate command center and liaison for corporate and Ross facilities during crisis events.


The Senior Investigative Analyst is responsible for protecting the company’s assets from internal theft by leading the investigative efforts for the company to identify potential cash and merchandise loss in all assigned locations and assist with driving investigations to conclusion through regular follow up. The Senior Investigative Analyst is responsible for partnering with RISC management to drive analyst accountability, provide training to new and existing team members on the use of Aspect, electronic journal, Wazagua, and other investigative resources. The Senior Investigative Analyst will also train analysts on new investigative techniques and identify and develop new investigative reports for the RISC team to utilize.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Minimizing Operational Shortage

  • Identify, develop, and respond to shortage processes by performing complex analytics
  • Partner and strategize with corporate and field business partners on shortage analysis such as conducting Root Cause Analysis research
  • Perform remote monitoring observations (i.e. virtual services) to support and drive a shortage awareness culture
  • Provide innovative solutions to address shortage trends impacting the business
Mitigating Theft & Fraud
  • Partner with peers, business partners, and/or supervisor to identify, design, and develop ad hoc reports and new reporting techniques using multiple reporting systems to generate case leads and identify new types of dishonest activity
  • Identify business needs, perform in-depth theft and fraud risk analysis, and provide recommendations to field LP team partners
  • Anticipate, develop and effectively utilize theft and fraud tools to address potential risk or fraud based on trend analysis
Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment

  • Effectively respond to and communicate serious/crisis incidents to the appropriate audience
  • Effectively execute the Crisis Management Program by compiling and providing intelligence from remote monitoring, technology and media sources timely and accurately
  • Identify, communicate and resolve CCTV fidelity and functionality issues while recommending solutions to address repeat or wide spread issues
Developing Great Teams & Partnerships
  • Lead and drive the on-boarding, training, mentoring, and development of RISC team members in partnership with management team
  • Develop, maintain and foster effective working relationships with field and corporate LP partners to identify, investigate, and resolve all potential theft and operational loss in a timely manner
  • Identify, develop, and deliver training for the LP organization on utilization of new reports and techniques to identify and address potential losses to the company
  • Perform other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • BA degree or greater is desired, preferably in Criminal Justice, Finance, or Business
  • 4-6 years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in and knowledge of computer software including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems
  • Experience with exception reporting and CCTV systems preferred (i.e. XBR, Aspect, etc.)
  • Self-motivated individual who can be successful in a fast-paced environment, with little to no supervision
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent planning, organizing and detail orientation skills
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning all information and projects
  • Experience working in multi-unit Retail is a plus
  • Supervisory experience a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)
  • Frequent computer work required (up to 8 hours), involving repetitive arm/hand motions from keyboarding
  • Must be able to work within a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Minimal travel by air and/or car may be required
