Manager, Organizational Safety and Security


The Manager of Corporate Security & Fire/Life Safety is responsible for promoting the Loss Prevention key objectives through ensuring the safety, security, and protection of company assets within the corporate environment. This position will effectively lead, manage and support the security and life safety program for the corporate offices to include physical security, fire and life safety, alarm response, access control, visitor’s control, CCTV, etc. The Manager role is responsible for the supervision of security personnel and the oversight of Fire/Life Safety systems, equipment and processes, including the protection of life and property through the implementation of the building’s fire safety plan including the management of the Fire Command Station. The Manager will lead, drive and promote effective crisis and incident management. The Manager may also participate, as directed, in on-going company initiatives and independently communicate with associates at all levels of the organization. The Manager will represent the Sr. Manager of Corporate Security and Life Safety as directed or the absence of.


Increasing Awareness and Response

Lead and own all responsibilities related to Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plans

Lead efforts on the development and delivery of emergency response programs

Develop tailored training and awareness materials as directed

Identify and maintain exceptional 3rd party vendors

Ensure that life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional

Support Fire/Life Safety efforts on behalf of the organization as directed by Sr. Manager/Director

Maintain compliance and records as required by all local fire codes

Provide/coordinate all emergency response training

Responsible to ensure security personnel are trained and certified to effectively respond to emergencies

Must be able to provide clear direction, information and assistance to all associates, guests and visitors

Ensure that life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional

Respond to and manage Fire Command Station during alarm events

As directed by Sr. Manager/Director ensure that all floors have fully staffed fire safety team

Participate and conduct fire and/or evacuation drills as directed

Developing Great Teams and Partnerships

Ensure that facility and/or all floors have fire safety teams, including Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, and Building Evacuation Team members

Supervise security personnel to provide effective security for corporate facilities to include physical security, safety, alarm response, access control, visitor control and cctv

Responsible for the selection, training, supervision and management of the Corporate Office Security associates

Works with Buying Office to ensure consistent physical security standards

Identify and Recruit Top Talent for Guard teams and Corporate Security staff

Fosters Effective Internal and External Communication through regular statuses with team and partners

Drive Performance Management Culture

Providing Support for Corporate Offices and Stores

Provide physical and fire life safety expertise as needed

Respond to current and emerging trends

Develop and maintain budget for Fire/Life Safety initiatives/projects

Participate/conduct fire drills as required

Lead efforts to align all corporate sites on Fire Life Safety processes

Delivering Exceptional Physical Security

Provide effective security for the Corporate Offices to include physical security, life/safety response, alarm response, access control, visitor control, CCTV, etc. to include all aspects of physical security and life safety.

Performs regular audits of corporate and buying office to ensure consistent physical security and life safety expectations

Develops action plans with partners to ensure execution and follow up of physical security gaps

Develops and drives crisis management plans for Ross Facilities, corporate facilities and buying offices

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

5-7 years of corporate security/life safety experience at management level

Former corporate security/life safety experience

FDNY certificate of Fitness/FSD Certification(Z-50) or Fire Safety Director license (F-58) License and ability to take on site testing a plus

Former Law Enforcement/Fire Department/leader level a plus

Proficient in MS suite programs/Power Point/Excel/E-mail and internet


Must be able to stand for prolonged periods if time if needed

Must be able to raise or lower objects weighing up to 25 lbs, from one level to another

Must be able to climb stairs, ramps or ladders occasionally during shift if needed

Must be able to respond appropriately during crisis events

Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration will vary per daily business need)

Must be willing to travel as directed for assignment

Must be willing to work off hours and weekends
