Manager, Environmental, Health, & Safety

Formulates and develops a systematic and organized approach to environmental, health and safety functions of the Company. Designs and directs programs to reduce the frequency and severity of associate and customer injuries, and assists with the compliance of environmental and safety regulations.

  • Develop, implement and maintain company wide environmental, health and safety policies and programs to reduce the frequency and severity of associate and customer injuries, and maintain compliance with Federal, State and local regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross functional departments, outside consultants and Store/DC leadership to identify and implement controls to minimize risk exposure though targeted and strategic continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist Store and DC personnel in facilitating root cause analysis and corrective / preventative action development to prevent future accidents.
  • Support the development of a safety management system across the DC organization.
  • Support and coordinate the product compliance program with Legal, Store Operations, Supply Chain and the Buying organization.
  • Partner with operations to develop and distribute effective safety and risk management reports and communications addressing accidents, near misses, lessons learned and other EHS related topics.
  • Build EHS capabilities for store and supply chain location resources to support implementation of EHS and risk control programs.
  • Actively support office emergency response teams and office safety programs.

  • 5 years of EHS management experience, preferably in retail.
  • College degree in Business Administration or related field, preferred
  • Must be detailed oriented and possess strong project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, CAL-OSHA, EPA, CA-DTSC and similar regulations as applicable to retail and distribution environments.
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret large amounts of data to support development of sound programs to mitigate risk to achieve desired results.
  • Must be proficient in Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel (pivot tables), and Power Point. Experience with Risk Management Information Systems or Safety Management Systems is preferred.
  • 5 years of EHS management experience, preferably in retail.
  • Professional certification, such as CSP or similar, is preferred.
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
Travel up to 25% of time
