GENERAL PURPOSE:This position has shared responsibility for oversight of the claim operations in the Risk Management department, responsible for formulating, developing, and coordinating all casualty and first-party insurance claims management programs to minimize claim costs, which have an estimated $130M reserve balance. The ultimate cost of claims is determined by the quality of the processes established to manage them. The Manager, Corporate Claims will have shared direct oversight responsibility for all claim vendors, including Third-Party Administrators (TPA), medical management vendors, attorneys, claim consultants, claim adjusters, salvage companies, and other related vendors to drive key performance indicators (KPIs) that deliver efficient resolution of bona fide claims within Company policies and procedures. The position is responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating internal claims management programs including Casualty Claim Blueprints, Incident Reporting, Investigations, Return-to-Work, Property Loss Evaluation and Resolution, and programs for monopolistic, non-subscription or self-insured programs as needed. All programs should be consistent with current best practices and drive efficient and cost-effective outcomes as demonstrated by strong KPI performance. Responsibilities may be shared and include the support of other risk management initiatives as assigned.
The base salary range for this role is $102,500 - $156,350. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Using knowledge of the industry, Ross' operations and key analytic concepts, oversee the daily claims examination activities of the TPA staff, resolving or escalating issues and monitoring progress towards timely and proper disposition of claims.
- Reviews analyses, trends, or key insights regularly to assess the program performance against KPIs, internal metrics and external benchmarks; recommends creative solutions to Risk Management leadership and implements initiatives to ensure Best-in Class outcomes.
- Manage KPIs for TPA ensuring regular accountability, reporting, and resolution of performance and stewardship issues.
- Conduct regular claim file audits and status reviews ensuring acceptable process and progress to proper disposition.
- Maintain knowledge of changing laws and emerging trends in workers' compensation and tort law in all states we operate to ensure best practices are used to mitigate claim costs.
- Coordinate input and participation of professionals involved in claim adjudication such as examiners, investigators, internal and external legal counsel, finance, and insurance carriers.
- Maintain and improve upon internal claims management programs including Casualty Claim Blueprints, Incident Reporting, Investigations, Return-to-Work, Property Loss Evaluation, Documentation and Resolution and programs for monopolistic, non-subscription or self-insured programs
- Manage the claims sections of the risk management information system (RMIS) ensuring completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and reporting usefulness of data.
- Evaluate financial impact of property and crime claims, including direct physical loss and business interruption.
- Manage property/crime claims adjusters, resolve claim disputes and drive settlements to conclusion.
- Work with internal departments to track property/crime loss expenses and financial impact.
- Accounting of property and claim losses.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- At least seven years of progressive experience in claims management with demonstrated knowledge of an employer casualty claims administration program
- Bachelors' degree or higher preferred, but work experience may be considered
- In-depth knowledge of tort, contract and statutory law relating to claims, policy provisions and coverages, medical and legal terminology
- Strong analytic and process management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong negotiation skills
- Project management skills
- Experience working with or at an insurance TPA
- Prior experience working with a Risk Management Information Systems (RIMS)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. This position requires the ability to use a computer, work as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others.
