Inbound International Transportation Supervisor

GENERAL PURPOSE:

To lead, direct, develop and coordinate inbound flow of international merchandise. This includes oversight for aspects of international transportation activities from origin routing requests to dc delivery as well as all modes and services associated with international freight movements. Responsibilities include the accurate freight flow of merchandise to support DC productivity requirements and in transit inventory levels. Responsible to lead and hold accountable all third party contracted providers to ensure contractual and performance level compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible to lead, coordinate, improve and oversight for all aspects of international transportation activities from origin routing requests to dc delivery. This includes expense controls, development of processes, the development and execution of procedures and performance management activities to ensure on time and on budget international deliveries.
  • Appropriately manage inbound flow of merchandise to support DC production goals and in transit inventory levels, while meeting service level requirements.
  • Responsible for accurate reporting associated with inbound international activities.
  • Responsible for oversight, performance management, reporting and direction to multiple third parties to ensure compliance with contractual commitments and service level expectations.
  • Responsible for the proactive development and execution of international transportation plans to include but not limited to: Peak planning activities, Chinese New Year strategy, Diversion strategy, New Origin Market strategy, New Destination Market strategy.
  • Managing and developing a staff of 1-4 exempt and non-exempt associates.
  • Perform all projects requested by the Manager, Inbound International.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 4-6 years international transportation experience
  • 4-6 years supervisory experience
  • TMS experience
  • Strong analytical skills are required
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with multiple levels within and outside of the company


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advanced notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.

Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

1-4 exempt and non-exempt level associates: Coordinators, Planners, Global Allocations and Scheduling Assistant
