GENERAL PURPOSE:The Manager, Payroll is responsible for overseeing the operational management of the company's Distribution Center non-exempt payroll processing. This role also assists with controls and reporting requests as needed. This includes responsibility for creating, managing and developing a strong team to work effectively, while ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, effective controls and timeliness for payroll related processing and documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage the operational aspects of payroll including exempt, non-exempt, leave of absence, and off cycle check processing.
- Evaluate, develop and implement procedures to ensure the integrity and stability of all payroll systems, including the production environment, system access and support system upgrades and conversions.
- Ensure all established controls are executed accurately, timely and efficiently on all deliverables.
- Support the internal and external audit processes as required.
- Effectively partner and collaborate as required with other teams including Corp.payroll, HR Directors, Leave of Absence, HRIS and and project teams. Also support external payroll vendor relationships.
- Establish a vision for growth and career opportunity within the payroll department.
- Develop, manage and maintain an effective Payroll team, with a strong focus on recruiting, training, coaching and development.
- Establish and document performance standards and metrics within the payroll team.
- Assess staffing requirements and make recommendations to management on future needs.
- Drive consistency/compliance and process efficiencies within the payroll department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
5 to 7 year of Payroll experience required, including experience leading a team
Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field is desired
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong managerial and analytical skills
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Good understanding of an integrated payroll/personnel system
Strong knowledge of KRONOS and PeopleSoft
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
This role requires full-time in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. This position requires the ability to use a computer, work as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others. Regular attendance also is a requirement of the position
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
