GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Director, Store Strategy and Method Improvements will lead a team of Sr. Managers, Managers and Analysts focused on identifying, testing, and implementing numerous productivity and cost saving opportunities throughout every area of the store in order to optimize store payroll spend and improve customer service. He/she will quickly be required to become knowledgeable on existing store technology, processes, and the business model in order to identify gaps and areas of opportunity. The Director needs to be comfortable using retail industry knowledge, engineered labor standards, corporate, and field input in order to drive innovation. He/she will also be responsible for developing and presenting appropriate material for discussions with Executive level audiences (President/COO, SGEVP Stores and LP, SVP of Stores, SVP of dd's, and other VP's). The Director's team will be responsible for project management, ROI calculations and significant amounts of data analysis, as well as the implementation of the identified savings opportunities. The Director will be responsible for prioritizing initiatives based on potential company benefit, Store capacity, the priorities of other departments, and complexity of implementation. In addition, the Director will lead ongoing evaluations of store processes and standards to ensure our payroll standards reflect current business procedures and activities. This position will require the Director to establish successful partnerships across all facets and levels of the organization.

The base salary range for this role is $108,600 - $204,150. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Identify industry best practices, competitor practices, and technology opportunities to improve store efficiency, execution, and reduce labor spend at both Ross and dd's

• Analyze potential short and long term financial and change management impacts

• Direct cross-functional teams comprised of Analysts, Managers and Directors from Store Planning, Store Operations, Strategy, Loss Prevention, Shortage Control, Finance, and the field to implement pilots and chain-wide initiatives to improve efficiency

• Define project success criteria (Key Performance Indicators, qualitative feedback, cost/benefit analysis) and lead and manage cross-functional teams to deliver required results in accordance with corporate expectations and time schedules

• Define and maintain timelines and resource requirements

• Draw conclusions based on data analysis, quickly be able to identify inconsistencies or anomalies in data

• Understand how engineered labor standards are created through the use of the Maynard software suite

• Support the development of measurements for current and future processes

• Drive and validate measurement of method improvement labor saves

• Serve as key point of contact for organization to understand impact of changes in the business on labor

• Ensure linkage between labor standards, business objectives, and the labor management system

• Support business needs by completing data analysis on various topics and presenting findings in succinct communication

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred

• Prior consulting experience preferred; retail experience preferred

• Strong leadership and project management skills and ability to manage both corporate and field resources, as well as resources in higher positions (VP's, Executive Committees)

• 10-12 years' experience in a Fortune 500 retail environment (or combined with consulting)

• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - mastery of Excel and PowerPoint required

• Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and succinctly, both verbally and written, and lead presentations to senior-level Executives

• High comfort level working in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Ability to work independently with minimal direction

• High degree of reliability including accountability for daily, weekly, and long-term projects

• Superior analytical skills, both mathematical and problem solving

This position requires the ability to use a computer, work as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others.
