Director, Store Operations Technology – Strategy & Method Improvement Projects

GENERAL PURPOSE:


The Director, Store Operation Technology is responsible for directing Store Operation technology across both Ross and dd’s stores to improve efficiencies and ultimately reduce payroll in both new and existing stores. The Director, Store Operations Technology is also responsible for leading collaboration and communication with Ross IT, Executives as well as Field and Corporate partners and managing technology vendors to drive a high standard of service.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads and advocates for Store Operation technology and equipment within Ross and dd’s organization by directing installation, use and maintenance of technology and consistently seeking to improve capabilities and execution to reduce payroll and simplify store operations

  • Possesses technical expertise to identify and develop effective technology solutions to improve the efficiency of Stores, Field teams and internal Store Operation

  • Develops technical requirements for new technologies in partnership with Ross IT, vendors, consultants and Store Operation business partners

  • Directs and leads changes to current technology and equipment programs by leading creation of procedures, guides, forms, reports and training to ensure strong execution of processes in stores

  • Partners with project teams to provide direction on implementing and maintaining store initiatives that reduce payroll or drive better process execution in both new and existing stores. Example technologies include material handling equipment, point of sale, handheld scanners, self-checkout, flexible scheduling tools, workforce management scheduling systems and software solutions driving process execution and better training

  • Represent stores’ perspective on technology initiatives to ensure accurate scope, timeline, deliverables and business updates. Leads the development of capital expenditure requests for projects or pilots and presents plans and results to different levels of leadership. Visits stores as needed to validate pilot/rollout direction

  • Leads Store Operation technology financial budgeting processes and ensures fiscal accountability to department and project budgets

  • Represents field point of view and acts as an advocate for field needs, serving as escalation contact when required. Works with field leadership to ensure Store/Field Leaders understand and use technology appropriately

  • Responsible for driving continuous collaboration and communication with internal and external business partners (i.e. IT, Executive Leadership, Field Leaders, Loss Prevention, Store Planning, etc.). Interfaces with all levels of Executive Leadership and is responsible for building consensus around all changes, issues and rollout plans

  • Provides input and supports rollout of projects with a Store Operation technology impact associated with IT, Best Practices, Method Improvements and Communications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred

  • 10 years of directly related work-experience that includes project management and business process ownership in IT or Store Operations

  • Strong knowledge of store technologies and store operations

  • Strong leadership and project management skills and ability to manage both corporate and field resources, as well as resources in higher positions (Directors, Executive Committees)

  • Proven ability to think strategically and determine the impact of decisions on the business

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint – mastery of Excel and PowerPoint required

  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and succinctly, both verbally and written, and lead presentations to senior-level Executives

  • Ability to successfully influence and drive results through cross-functional partnerships

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from creation to implementation to maintenance

  • Superior analytical skills, both technical and problem solving

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:


Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.

Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.

Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
