Director, Initiatives (Change Management)


The Store Initiatives Director is responsible leading a team to develop change management strategies to drive change in Stores. They will be responsible for all cross-functional change elements, including developing communication and training tools, partnering with Field Leaders, and implementing of the change plans. Additionally, they will provide project management and oversight for projects of various sizes and complexities by coordinating all project elements, from inception to completion. A key component of this role is having an understanding of all Store Operations processes, policies and procedures, as well as building close working relationships with Field Leaders and Stores.

  • Create and deliver effective change management strategies for both Ross and dd’s Stores that align with business objectives and drive adoption of new Store initiatives.
  • Create and deliver change management tools based on the level of change to drive adoption of new initiatives in Stores, as well as continual execution post rollout.
  • Develop communication that translates complex concepts into clear and easy to understand communication with effective layout and design, language, and tone for the intended audience.
  • Responsible for designing pilot programs to test changes, measure key metrics, and provide recommendations for go-forward strategies to senior management. Expectations include: Detailed project plans, analysis and measurements of objectives, and change management measures to facilitate process adoption.
  • Informing and consensus building with stakeholders and Executives

  • Drive execution of new processes and programs in Stores through effective project planning, cross-functional communication with key business partners, and gaining approvals through the appropriate channels.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management (Sr Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Zone Directors, District Managers, LP leaders, and stores) and is responsible for building consensus around all changes, issue resolutions, and rollout plans. Works with senior management and field leaders to ensure store execution is driven through approved operational initiatives and best practices.
  • Regularly visits Stores and leverages Field Leaders to evaluate change strategies and identify improvement opportunities and/or tools that drive execution. Brings knowledge of industry best practices and applies that information to develop solutions to Store needs when appropriate.
  • Acts as an advocate for Field needs and serves as escalation contact when appropriate. Attends meetings and conducts status updates with key partners, representing a Field point of view and providing operational input to corporate and Field Leaders as needed.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 10 years of retail management experience that includes project management and business process ownership in Store Operations, multi-unit or a hybrid of field and corporate experience preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Store operations and how other operating areas impact Stores
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage both corporate and Field partners and successfully influence and drive results through cross-functional partnerships
  • Ability to manage projects from creation to implementation to maintenance
  • Ability to think strategically and determine impact of decisions on the business
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently with minimal direction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Advance proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop) preferred/a plus

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
Periodically requires travel based on projects/initiatives
