Associate Analyst, Financial (IT)

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Associate Financial Analyst is responsible applying new or existing technologies and solutions to solve business needs. Works with IT and business teams to determine system needs and the execution of new system projects. May serve as a functional and/or technical expert in one or more disciplines. Additionally, this position will work with IT Finance to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficiency are maintained through our budgeting, planning, monthly close, and forecast processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinating the efforts of internal and external technical staff in the support of existing production systems and in the execution of new system projects.
  • Participating in projects throughout the entire systems development life cycle (including creating timely / thorough status reports and leading status meetings) – ensuring that:
o Requirements are defined accurately
o Systems are designed/coded or purchased that meet the defined requirements, and that execute efficiently
o Associated system interfaces are designed, coded, and tested successfully
o Test plans (full life cycle, including integration) and training plans are designed and executed successfully
o All required system and user documentation is created accurately
o New Store Openings are completed on time and under budget
o Anticipated business benefits are achieved
  • Prepare and maintain financial documentation for IT New Store Openings including but not limited to the building and managing of monthly cashflow and forecasts. The role will also be responsible for Invoice and spend management, including the creation and tracking of purchase orders.
  • Perform New store capital reporting, tracking and reconciliation on an ongoing basis
  • Partner closely with IT Finance to understand and advise on timing of cash flows and to ensure project costs are reflected accurately in the forecast.
  • Perform in-depth variance analysis in Excel to understand and explain significant differences in actuals vs. budget and prior forecast.
  • Manage and code invoices, creating and tracking purchase orders required for quarterly new stores opening group.
  • Prepare executive reports and presentations for review and submission. Present variance explanations and financial risks in executive review meeting
  • Prepare annual budgets and 5-Year Plan for New Store openings by understanding the business drivers and using that information work with IT Finance to accurately predict costs and timing of spend.
  • Complete ad hoc analysis as requested to answer questions regarding store performance and financial trends.
  • Support IT Finance in Month-end close as needed by providing analysis that support journal entries or reclasses.
  • Evaluate technical designs, developing alternatives, and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborating with other teams, within IT and business teams to ensure timely and successful issue resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Undergraduate college required (preferably with focus in Accounting or Finance)
  • 0-2 years prior relevant work experience; financial or operations planning & forecasting highly desirable.
  • Detail oriented, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong analytical ability – must be able to synthesize data, be able to error check and reconcile own work and be able to design analysis to answer specific questions.
  • Team oriented, yet able to work independently
  • A continual desire and capability to learn
  • Ability to flex, cope with pressure, multiple tasks, deadlines and rapidly changing priorities/competing demands.
  • Build relationships with a wide variety of internal contacts. Ability to effectively communicate and partner with multiple levels from peer to Senior Leaders and vendors.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
