Assistant Buyer and
Assistant Planner Internships

Ross offers eight-week Summer Intern programs in one of the country’s two main fashion centers, New York and Los Angeles. Successful applicants are placed into either the Assistant Buyer (NY or LA) or Assistant Planner (NY) tracks.

  • Receive hands-on experience working as a buyer or planner at a successful off-price retailer in the heart of the NY or LA garment districts.
  • Develop skills in trend analysis, negotiation, and planning, preparing you for a full-time position with us.
  • Receive structured training, one-on-one apprenticeship with a skilled buyer or planner, and collaborative team building with your Summer Internship peers.
  • Participate in a project, culminating with the opportunity to present meaningful business ideas to a team of senior management.

Early Career Programs

Focused on recent graduates, our early career programs offer entry-level positions on our buying and planning teams. These are learning roles that allow you to build a foundation of skills through our apprenticeship model while working closely with experienced mentors and industry leaders. Our programs emphasize skill development in trend analysis, negotiation, leadership, and planning to prepare you for your next steps with Ross. National Retail Federation (NRF)

As a member of the NRF, Ross is part of the world’s largest retail trade association. This partnership allows us to network with universities and reach out to students interested in a career in retail. Each year, our College Relations Team attends NRF’s Student Program in New York to connect with students and college career services nationwide.

Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF)

As an FSF partner, Ross helps support its mission to encourage gifted and enterprising college students to pursue the business of retail. Each January, our College Relations Team and FSF scholars converge in New York to attend a series of networking and recruiting events that bolster this partnership through internships and full-time career opportunities at Ross.
