Sr Specialist – Store Delivery

GENERAL PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for appropriate flow of merchandise through Pool facilities to support Pool work plan to meet transit targets and create consistent execution of store delivery process by making sure policies and procedures are adhered to.

This position is responsible to develop and implement action plans to improve and sustain performance levels to the required metrics at all times. This position will monitor and communicate actual performance levels. Physical onsite visits of our Pool Network will be key to ensure our Pools are able to meet and maintain our standards.

Requires the experience and ability to interact with multiple resources internal and external to the organization to negotiate and influence the end results supporting consistent flow of merchandise to a network of stores for both Ross and dd’s. Resources include: Corporate Inventory Control, Store Operations (Regional VPs, Zone Directors, District Managers, Director Store Finance), Logistics Finance, DCs, 3rd Party Logistics Partners (Pool Managers, Pool Directors, Pool Corporate Leadership and Carriers)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directs the development and execution of strategies to support outbound transportation supply chain integration for retail stores deliveries. Provides additional transportation needs as requested to address maintenance supplies and store supplies.
  • Evaluate operational activities, roll out "best in class initiatives" to improve and create consistent operational programs; work with our 3rd Party Logistics Providers to improve efficiencies that would control costs.
  • Develop the requirements and procedures to coordinate between Ross Transportation, Ross Distribution Centers, pools and stores.
  • Determine schedules and make adjustments to consistently meet our transit metrics at a Network, Regional, Pool and Chain Levels.
  • Manage network of our 3rd Party Logistics providers to deliver to our expanding Store Network.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Minimum:

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company.
  • High-Level working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
  • Knowledge of current transportation regulations
  • Skillful negotiator with strong ability to influence
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in work experience preferred
  • Interactive ability to generate strong relationships and client confidence

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of TMS products.
  • Bachelor Degree (Transportation, Logistics or Business related.
  • Prior management experience – Transportation Outbound Retail
  • Advanced analytical and reporting skills

Travel required and may be substantial at times (up to 50%)

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences typically have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.

Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 lbs.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility when not traveling. When traveling it may require long hours on your feet in warehouse environments that are not climate controlled.
