Shortage Analyst

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Analyst of Shortage Control is responsible supporting the physical inventory count cycles and analyzing and reporting shrink results. The analyst will prepare shrink related reporting, manage vendor billing, forecast and reconcile the physical inventory expense budget, research shrink related concerns and assist in analysis of shrink related initiatives. The analyst of shortage control will conduct in-depth data analysis to identify root causes and recommend alternative course of action based on logical assumptions. The analyst will assist on ROI analysis for current and new shortage initiatives. The analyst will provide reporting to track program progress and identify process and systemic shortage opportunities as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Build cubes, reports and dossiers using Microstrategy Self-Service to report information and statistics on shortages and the measures to reduce and eliminate shortage.

• Produce monthly Shortage Indicator Report (SIR). Provide actionable feedback and reports to field operations. Partner with cross functional groups to develop best practices.

• Conduct in depth data analysis to identify root causes and recommend alternative course of action based on logical assumptions.

• Assist in ROI analysis based on various current and proposed shortage initiatives. Current initiatives include store protection specialists, merchandise protection equipment, shipment of high security merchandise, and remote monitoring expansion.

• Conduct ad hoc analysis requests from all departments.

• Support the physical inventories count process within the stores. Includes managing vendor billing, weekly reconciliation of booked inventory count data to IT queries, and preparation of the weekly flash reports.

• Prepare yearly budget, forecast and reconcile physical inventory expense account. Assist in preparation of the 5-year plan.

• Produce monthly On Order report. Provide actionable feedback and reports to field operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Accounting or Business Degree preferred

• 2+ years of experience in financial / business analysis (retail experience preferred)

• Outstanding analytical skills: Must have a data driven approach to solving problems

• Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy on work output

• Prioritize multiple competing projects under tight deadlines

• Strong fundamental business skills - must be Excel, Access and PowerPoint proficient

• Ability to manage large data sets

• Financial (including ROI analysis) and statistical modeling skills a plus

• Good oral and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
