Senior Systems Administrator (Active Directory)

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for working on complex projects, assignments and issues where he or she will determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other associates. Areas of focus include relationship management, service transition, service management, service integration, and technical operations activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Relationship Management

• Provide inputs to production SLAs for systems of low to moderate complexity. Drive accountability for meeting SLAs.

• Review SLA compliance reports and define activity changes to adhere to SLAs in the future for low to moderately complex initiatives.
Service Transition

• Plan and manage service readiness for new or enhanced services of low to moderately complex scope.

• Ensure that new or changed services satisfy all readiness criteria and are ready for production deployment for low to moderately complex projects.
Service Management

• Plan and recommend procedures for service request management.

• Maintain incident management process and procedures and resolve complex incidents.
Service Integration

• Review SLA reports and recommend service improvement opportunities.

• Make recommendations for updates to the service catalogue on IT services delivered to customers.
Technical Operations

• Determine remediating actions for simple to moderately complex new events.

• Manage system health, maintenance, recovery and basic application technical tuning for established initiatives.

SUBSET SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in the architecture of new Active directory security related solutions ensuring they are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives

• Review and analyze new requests, work with IT partners, vendors, and business leaders to understand communication needs; Develop solutions and recommendations for business initiatives based on application requirements

• Analyze Active directory performance, reacting to operational performance, and business-wide issues; Participate on the L2/L3 production support team; Help identify and develop efficiency opportunities

• Research, evaluate, develop, design and implement Active directory designs and standards following industry best practices

• Maintain network health monitoring and notification tools

• Maintain infrastructure hardware including ongoing software/firmware patches or upgrades and analysis

• Develops and implements policies and procedures relative to Active directory and dependent technologies

• Work with managed service provides, solution providers, and other infrastructure teams

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 6-8 years of experience in the IT field or equivalent work experience.

• Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Business, Economics or Computer Science, or an equivalent diploma

• 5+ or more years engineering or architecture experience delivering Windows server solutions in large scale enterprise server estate. Advanced application of productivity suite software (i.e. Microsoft Office)

• Experience providing technical support for L2/L3 and other operate teams, and on-call support when needed

• Provided successful onsite delivery of Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012, 2012 R2 and 3rd party solutions for the firm globally. Current MCSE, VCP certification is preferred

• Experience working with Windows clustering technology, configuration management system such as SCCM, Hyper-V cluster and SCVMM.

• Mid-to-Senior experience with VMWare 6.x ie., VMWare vSphere ESXi, VMWare vSphere vCenter, VMWare Update Manager, VMWare Site Recovery. Provide input on data protection, access, authentication control, resource management, monitoring, high availability, fault tolerance, and scalable virtualized infrastructure.

• Senior level experience with Microsoft Enterprise technologies ie., Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Group Policy Objects (GPO), Internet Information Services (IIS), Key Management Services (KMS), Microsoft Exchange, M365 technologies, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Orchestrator, Quest Recovery Manager for Forest Edition (RMAD FE), SCCM and SCOM

• Must have hands-on experience working with current and older HP Proliant, Synergy & c-Class Blade servers

• Experience with enterprise-level administration of Exchange, Citrix 7.5 and above, Office 365, System Center, SCVMM, Skype for Business, SharePoint

• Knowledgeable in core Microsoft Windows Operating System, System Center, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and other core technologies

• Working knowledge of MS SQL Server database administration/reporting

• Ability to script and develop using .Net, PowerShell, VBScript and related systems

• ITIL Foundations experience in Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management & Service Request Management

• Strong personal organization, time and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications:

• Active directory, DNS, DHCP, System Center, Office 365, CITRIX, Vmware, Hyper - V

• MCSE, VCP is preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
Occasional Requirements: Job occasionally requires bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
May also require occasional driving and/or traveling overnight for business functions or site visits.
