Senior Paralegal, Commercial Litigation & Intellectual Property

The key functions of this position are: handling and partnering with attorneys and other paralegals to lead intellectual property and commercial litigation, including assisting outside and in-house counsel with intake, filing, case management, deadline tracking, fact collection and discovery. This position will also respond to subpoenas, demand letters and pre-litigation inquiries. Additionally, this position will be responsible for running product sales and accounting reports; and developing, monitoring and helping to administer various compliance programs or related legal projects (such as ADA access, records management, and electronic discovery). In undertaking these responsibilities, this position will require interaction and clear communications with internal and external stakeholders to ensure prompt resolution of legal claims. All of these tasks will be performed under the supervision and direction of a licensed attorney supervisor.


  • Assist outside and in-house counsel with intellectual property and commercial litigation including intake, filing, litigation holds, case management, deadline tracking, fact collection, document organization and discovery
  • Communicate with various internal departments and vendors/vendors' counsel to assist and support in-house counsel in the timely resolution of legal claims, demand letters, and other pre-litigation inquiries
  • Use internal software tools to create sales and accounting reports to support in-house counsel

Litigation Budget Maintenance
  • Maintain and update Serengeti case management and billing database
  • Monitor case status and assist with financial reporting and quarterly forecast process
  • Assist in-house counsel with reserve reporting

Compliance Initiatives and Other Projects
  • Support attorneys and paralegals in group with compliance initiatives and commercial projects as requested

  • B.A. degree or equivalent work experience
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience not required, but considered a plus
  • Five to eight years + experience as a litigation paralegal at law firm preferred
  • In-house experience not required, but considered a plus
  • Practical knowledge of civil litigation, including issues pertaining to civil procedure, discovery, document production, confidentiality, privilege, motion practice
  • Excellent organization skills, with a passion for details
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work and coordinate with a variety of internal and external contacts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)


Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance is required.
