About this opportunity ....

A Senior Director of Planning Strategy will lead Planning-related projects sponsored by the GEVP Planning under the direction of the SVP Planning Strategy & Operations. This role provides needed project management capability/capacity to make near-term and on-going Planning improvements; will work closely with Senior Planning and Cross-Functional Leadership (Merchants, Allocation, IT, Business Intelligence, Finance) depending on the Project. Responsible for clearly defining project objectives, scope, plan and resources. Responsible for day-to-day management and successful execution of select projects from assessments to design, testing, pilot, rollout and monitoring. Scope includes Ross and dd's. In addition, provide additional strategic oversight of Planning calendars/activities, Assortment Planning feedback/process and training.

Responsibilities...
  • Collaborate with the GEVP, SVP and other functional heads to identify opportunities, define vision and objectives. Define project charters, deliverables, key project activities, resourcing and timeline.
  • Confirm workstream owners, develop and review detailed project plans. Define dependencies and create integrated program plans.
  • Lead assessments/analysis in partnership with Forecasting & Analysis, Business Process and Strategy to develop informed recommendations. Present recommendations and confirm direction with executives
  • Define detailed process, roles/responsibilities, tool/reporting updates in partnership with Business Process and cross-functional project leads.
  • Facilitate executive working and review sessions.
  • Conduct change impact assessments to inform development of change management and communication plans. Own project communications and help manage change.
  • Manage the plan and successful completion of project deliverables. Identify and mitigate risks. Troubleshoot and problem solve. Provide regular updates. Escalate issues and agree on next steps with SVP.
  • Partner with Business Process/Training team to develop training plans and materials.
  • Confirm what success looks like and develop feedback, governance and monitoring mechanisms for projects.
  • Measure/collect feedback and report outcomes/recommend adjustments and next steps.
  • Oversee Strategic Planning/Calendar Management to raise executive visibility to critical milestones and ensure they take place as designed, advising/troubleshooting with the Calendar Manager as necessary.

Who you are ...
  • You've had 6+ years of Management Consulting, Project Planning and Management Experience
  • You've had 3+ years of Planning Experience and/or relevant Retail Industry Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and MBA required
  • You have Excellent organization skills; can manage multiple projects at once and keep focus
  • You are Comfortable with ambiguity and flexible-Collecting input and charting a course, and re-charting course based on new findings/priorities
  • You have Strategic Thinking and Reasoning Skills--Sees the Domino and Spider Web Impacts
  • You have Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective listening and executive meeting facilitation skills; able to clearly articulate recommendations and reasoning
  • You are Proficient in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint)
