About this job:

The Private Label Manager will support Ross and dd’s Merchants in their use of private labels. They will ensure that we have the right suite of labels and that they are consistently applied to product to maintain logo and design integrity.


  • Work with merchants and creative leadership team to distill annual private label needs into briefs
  • Work with project management to prioritize / schedule projects
  • Facilitate “pitch” process when new branding agencies are being considered
  • Partner with project lead to manage agency or internal design process to keep deliverables on track
  • Coordinate with legal on naming and trademarks
  • Answer ad hoc questions from Merchants on label and application
  • Educate Buyers on differences between labels and where each can be used / guardrails, as well as any updates or changes based on label refreshes
  • Develop and maintain quick reference guides for each product category
    Attend select product or Creative meetings when attendance is requested
  • Work with agencies or internal design team to develop Style Guides as new labels are launched
  • Work with agencies or internal design team to develop Style Guides as new labels are launched
  • Establish / maintain shared template file library on server
  • Address Style Guide needs raised by Creative Team Leadership or Merchant Team
  • Upon Merchant request, share Private Label assets with new vendors
  • Approve vendor art for their first use of Ross private label
  • Maintain list of vendors using Private Labels
  • Redistribute assets when updated
  • Answer ad hoc questions from Vendor community
  • Visit stores seasonally to evaluate PL products and make callouts to GMMs / DMMs
  • Report on use of trademark names and flag any risks to Merchants and Legal
  • Manage updates to the License contracts
  • Track placement in accordance to contractual commitments
  • Coordinate item approvals
  • Provide teams with style guide direction

    5 years managing Private Label and/or Licensing at a large retailer, manufacturer or related industry
  • Strong taste level ; ability to articulate and align product with private label positioning
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Moderate level analytical skills
