Operations Support, Sr. Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE:

This position is responsible to direct the setup, maintenance, and diagnostics of the Transportation Management System (TMS). This is inclusive of the setup of initial configuration, maintenance of configurations and troubleshooting of the TMS system to support current and future business requirements. Also, responsible for annual system assessment to support 5-year budget and planning. Collaboration with IT resources for all system changes, upgrades, and system outages as well as communication to internal associates and timeline for operational availability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Directs all activities associated with Logistics’ projects, continuous improvement opportunities, cost savings initiatives, systemic improvements and strategy growth planning.


As process change ideas are implemented, this position will also be responsible for creating process documentation and control plans with Transportation groups.


Project facilitation across internal and external groups (as appropriate) including Merchandising, Planning and Allocations, Finance, Store Operations, Business Solutions, Distribution Centers and consulting groups to identify, develop and implement cross-functional opportunities impacting performance metrics, efficiencies, costs and controls of the Logistics Supply Chain.


This position will also be responsible for the planning, developing and execution of all assigned Transportation initiatives including process improvement and cost reduction/control projects. These activities will support the operational activities associated with 7 distribution centers, 3500 stores and 25 cross-dock locations and will support cost controls representing in excess of $ 400m in annualized Logistics spend.


Responsible to evaluate opportunities to simplify all Transportation processes, improve performance metrics and to identify efficiencies both in processes and costs.


Oversite of relationships with external consultants, contractors, and vendors and the collaboration with Ross cross functional subject matter experts.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIRMENTS:

  • College degree (Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration) or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
  • Proficient P.C. skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and Access.
  • Proven leadership abilities in a fast paced environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of distribution center processing, merchandise production, planning, scheduling, quality control techniques and managerial accounting.
  • Highly proficient communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proven controls management skills with multi-million dollar facility and/or projects.
  • 10 years experience in large distribution center or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Management experience in high volume, growth-oriented organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of state of the art distribution systems.
  • Strong project management skills.
