GENERAL PURPOSE:The Corporate Security & Fire/Life Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and protection of Ross associates and assets within and around the Los Angeles/New York Buying Office. The position will follow the policies and execute procedures related to Ross' safety and security program including physical security, fire and life safety, policy enforcement, emergency and alarm response, associate and visitor access control management, CCTV, inspections, observation, and incident reporting. He or she will also participate in on-going company initiatives and interact and communicate with associates at all levels of the organization.
The base pay range for this role is $18.37 - $26.59. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe Environments
• Maintain a visible security presence in order to deter, prevent or mitigate any condition that adversely effects safety and security
• Monitor and review corporate technologies on a regular basis to include CCTV, access control, Fire Panel or Command Station and information systems as directed (where applicable) Perform patrols and inspect all areas for any condition that threatens the safety and security of BO associates, staff, visitors, or assets and report them to a supervisor immediately
• Provide clear direction, information, and/or aid as required to associates and visitors
Maintaining Secure Environments
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security/safety of the corporate or buying offices
• Demonstrate knowledge of all security posts
• Perform audits, assessments, and inspections as directed to ensure that the Organizational Safety & Security programs are being adhered to and standards are maintained
• Document activities and conditions in logs and maintain record systems as instructed
• Enforce Organizational Safety & Security programs, policies, and regulations through instruction, persuasion, and influence
• Maintain professional presence and ensure a safe and secure environment at all times
Mitigating Risk Through Preparedness and Response
• Be knowledgeable about all security and safety related procedures and policies
• Attend and participate in drills and training as directed and maintain applicable certifications and licenses
• Maintain all equipment in serviceable, functional and operable condition
• Constantly monitor and evaluate safety and security conditions in and around the BO
• Maintain a constant state of readiness, preparation, and attentiveness
• In the event of an emergency, respond and implement immediate corrective action to restore safety and security as per Organizational Safety and Security protocol and policy
Developing Great Teams & Partnerships
• Provide Ross associates and visitors with service and information in a professional manner
• Ensure a supervisor is notified of any condition that may impact safety and security in and around the BO
• Assist and foster effective external partnerships liaising with emergency first responders
• Develop and maintain effective internal partnerships throughout the organization
• Provides a prompt and courteous response to requests for support from Fire & Life Safety Team, including Safety Wardens, Assistant Safety Wardens and Searchers

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• College credits or prior military experience preferred
• 1-2 years of corporate security experience preferred
• Security Guard License preferred
• Must be able to read all operating procedures and instructions and give clear instruction during emergency incidents.
• Proficient computer usage.
• AED-CPR certification a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
This role requires full-time in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. This position requires the ability to use a computer, work as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others. Regular attendance also is a requirement of the position.
