Manager, New Store Fixture Installations

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Manager of New Store Fixture Installations is responsible for leading the planning and execution of all new store fixture installations, working directly with local/city governments to meet all jurisdictional requirements for fixture permitting, and the ongoing management and facilitation of all new store operations.

On the Fixture Installation side of the business, this role leads a team of Project Leads and Coordinators who are responsible for ensuring new stores receive fixture permits and all fixtures are installed in time for grand opening. This includes ensuring processes are clear and documented, ongoing management of all installation vendors, sourcing and training of new vendors, approving capital and expense budgets and monthly forecasts, and working directly with local/city governments, internal Property Development/Construction Project Managers, internal Store Planning and Design partners (who own CAD / store drawings), and external permit expeditor vendors and general contractors to meet all fixture permitting requirements (which can be different by city/state).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages and facilitates New Store Opening, Relocation and Going Out of Business activities and processes in existing and new markets for Ross & dd’s Stores; including creation of project plans, communication to key stakeholders, development of operations procedures, and recommendations to leadership
    • Collaborates with Field Leaders, Construction, IT, Store Planning, Finance, Marketing, and other key business partners to provide operational strategy and direction.
    • Manages end-to-end processes and documentation including timelines, manuals and training materials.
    • Responsible for communicating all Initiatives and Best Practices in ways that are relevant to New Store, Relocation & Going Out of Business environments.
    • Ensures all corporate tools, reporting, and schedules are executed as planned, issues are identified and fixed early, and processes are designed to minimize shortages, go-backs, and provide high level of customer service to Stores
    • Leads the sourcing and training of all installation vendors; works with Strategic sourcing to drive RFPs and develop contracts and SOWs; manages the ongoing performance of installation vendors and makes recommendations on whether to keep or terminate vendor relationships based on performance
  • Works directly with local/city governments to proactively apply, track, and approve fixture permits in time for grand opening; immediately resolves permitting issues in partnership with local/city governments, external vendors and contractors (including fixture vendors, general contractors, and fixture installers), and internal construction project managers
  • Leads the development of annual store capital and expense budgets, approves monthly forecasts, and secures funding as needed for unanticipated projects and fixture needs; works with Finance to provide ad-hoc analysis on project spend as required
  • Travels to Ross and dd’s discounts stores to oversee quality and delivery of fixtures, installation, and overall project execution

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 5 years of retail management experience
  • Four-year college degree in business or related field
  • Proficient knowledge of Store Operations Best Practices for Ross & dd’s and new store opening processes for both brands
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong customer focus. Anticipates customer needs and takes action to meet them; continually searches for ways to increase customer satisfaction and improve processes

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.

Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
