Manager, Financial Reporting


Seeking a motivated candidate for the Financial Reporting team to drive the constant enhancement in the Ross finance function, processes, systems, and value creation to support and enable continued exemplary financial performance and operations. The Financial Reporting Manager role is responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the Company’s quarterly SEC Form 10-Q and annual SEC Form 10-K filings. Additionally, this role is responsible for the Company’s SOX compliance function and technical accounting.


  • Core participation in quarterly earnings and SEC filing process by managing key internal relationships between External Reporting and internal stakeholders; managing the drafting and preparation of various sections of the quarterly filings, including supporting the earnings release cycle; and preparing quarterly analytical reviews to support Management’s Discussion and Analysis.

  • Manage Quarterly board variance analyses and reporting.

  • Assessing quarterly transactions for accounting treatment and disclosure.

  • External audit coordination including workpaper preparation and review.

  • Research, document, and resolve accounting matters.

  • Managing the Company’s SOX compliance function by Conducting SOX risk assessment and planning.

  • Work with Accounting and others to update Ross’ Accounting Policies and Procedures manual.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop staff.

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in accounting/finance).

  • CPA or CPA candidate a plus.

  • 5-8 years post college experience (within a Big 4 accounting firm, retail company, or within a financial reporting group).

  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.

  • Strong understanding of SOX and internal controls.

  • A detail oriented approach – must pay close attention to the details and have the drive to get things right.

  • Strong Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills, and Visio. Workiva and Peoplesoft Financial Systems experience is a plus.

  • Ability to cope with pressure and changing priorities.

  • Trustworthy with confidential financial information.


Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.

Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.

Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
