Manager, Best Practices

GENERAL PURPOSE:

This role will work out of the corporate office and act as a Store Operations partner to define and modify company best practices through effective project management, sound analysis, and consensus building with Executives. They will coordinate with key business partners to prioritize, test, and implement improvements to best practices or technologies in stores.

A key component of this role is having an understanding of Store Operations policies and procedures, working directly with stores/field leaders for feedback, and maintaining close relationships with field management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for designing pilot programs to test changes, measure key metrics, and provide recommendations for go-forward strategies to senior management. Expectations include:
    • Creating detailed project plans
    • Selecting pilot/control stores (type and quantity) to be representative of chain
    • Analyzing key metrics, including sales, shrink, customer impact, and others (project specific) to determine impact
    • Coordinating Change Management measures to facilitate process adoption
    • Informing and consensus building with stakeholders and Executives
  • Regularly visits stores and field partners to evaluate processes/pilots, identify improvement opportunities or tools that drive execution. Brings knowledge of industry best practices and applies that information to develop solutions to store needs when appropriate.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management (Sr Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Zone Directors, District Managers, LP leaders, and stores) and is responsible for building consensus around all changes, issue resolutions, and rollout plans. Works with senior management and field leaders to ensure store execution is driven through approved operational initiatives and best practices.
  • Acts as an advocate for field needs and serves as escalation contact when appropriate. Attends meetings and conducts status updates with key partners, representing a field point of view and providing operational input to corporate and field partners as needed.
  • Manages Best Practice Analyst/Sr. Analyst and effectively delegates workload/assigns tasks to satisfy project deliverables or ad-hoc requests.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Four-year college degree in business or STEM field
  • 3-5 years of retail management experience that includes project management and business process ownership in Store Operations
  • Proficient knowledge of store operations and how other operating areas impact stores
  • Strong Customer focus. Anticipates customer needs and takes action to meet them; continually searches for ways to increase customer satisfaction and improve process
  • Ability to successfully influence and drive results through cross-functional partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from creation to implementation to maintenance
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to drive development and engagement of team members
  • Proven ability to think strategically and determine impact of decisions on the business
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Point

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.

Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.

Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
