Lead, Systems Administration (Disaster Recovery)

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Lead Systems Administrator for Disaster Recovery is responsible for leading projects that apply new or existing technologies and solutions to solve business needs. Works with the IT and business management teams to lead projects through their lifecycle and manages project and work-stream personnel and project teams in full scope of IT infrastructure delivery responsibilities focusing on the Disaster Recovery of production IT applications. Responsible for identifying changes made in production that could impact the Disaster Recovery program and then engages the appropriate IT subject matter experts and project teams to update recovery procedures. Partners with IT project teams to ensure the Disaster Recovery requirements are met before a project goes live, influencing and guiding change. This individual will build and maintain relationships and services with both internal and external partners to ensure procedures are in place that are accurate and effective in the recovery of our systems and applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Leading the activities of providing new capabilities and driving value from existing capabilities. Managing projects throughout the entire systems development lifecycle, ensuring that Disaster Recovery requirements are defined accurately, recovery procedures are in place, system configurations are recorded that meet the defined requirements and execute efficiently. Creating detailed project plans, coordinates team resources and manages to overall project timeline. Ensuring that test plans and training plans are designed and executed successfully, all required system and user documentation is created accurately, projects are completed on time and on budget and anticipated business benefits are achieved.

• Supporting existing production systems, coordinating related support and enhancement activities. Defining and prioritizing problems and requests. Ensure proper testing and business change management practices and procedures are followed. Ensuring all support activities are executed on time and on budget.

• Investigates new tools, applications, and technologies and determines how these can be used to solve business problems. Understands business trends and the need for competitive advantage and ensures the architectural integrity within the enterprise.

• Work with other leads on large projects, either as a lead or a team member coordinating technical resources across multiple platforms and systems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ideal candidate has at least 5 years plus experience in successfully managing projects requiring significant IT infrastructure.

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline.

• Experience with the execution and implementation of infrastructure projects.

• Broad understanding of system management, storage and computer operating systems.

• Ability to communicate well with user groups, technical organizations, and management teams utilizing strong presentation skills combined with solid technical background.

• Able to work as a team player in a collaborative environment.

• PMP/ITIL certification a plus.

• Highly organized and detail oriented.

• Some travel may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in a complex Disaster Recovery Program.

• Lead Systems Administrator technical experience with Windows, Linux, Solaris, NetBackup, Networking and Storage systems

• Create and maintain technical documentation

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
