IT Manager I, Store Systems

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The IT Manager I is responsible for managing the coordination of activities within Store Systems.
This includes overseeing projects that apply new technologies to solve business needs. S/He will maintain existing technologies (software and hardware) by keeping them stable and operational. Managing and leading initiatives/projects, people management, project finances, adhering to the SDLC, vendor management, change management, communication, individual contributions and client management activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage internal and external staff. Lead efforts in the support of existing systems, processes, services and/or in the execution of new projects

• Investigate new tools, applications, and technologies and determine how these can be used to solve business problems. Understand business trends and the need for competitive advantage

• Develop and manage detailed, bottoms up project plans covering the entire systems development life cycle and associated financial needs

• Manage budget, expenses, scope and facilitate project delivery and support

• Manage and deliver presentations that include the perspective of all related parties. Ability to lead development of content and deliver / present to Senior Leadership

• Collaborate with internal and external IT teams to resolve/improve IT processes and procedures

• Maintain stability and quality of service by ensuring standard operation standards and processes are followed and kept current

• Direct implementation of improvements in all areas of IT responsibility

• Partner with IT and business stakeholders to ensure timely and successful issue resolution. Influence and drive alignment of key decisions on projects

• Build cross-functional partnerships with other groups to foster team building across units

• Create and direct initiatives based on internal and external needs of business users and teams

• Follow HR policies and procedures in people management activities

• Ensure timely communication of critical information to superiors and other parties as needed. Communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully

• Resolve and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion

• Collaborates with internal client peer groups to identify needs and evaluate business solutions

• Ensure IT change management practices and procedures are followed

• Manage day-to-day application support activities for defined area/department. Define and prioritize problems and requests. Provide Level 3 support on production issues

• Work with software and/or hardware vendors on enhancements and production issues

• Direct execution of release and deployment plans with all stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 8 to 10 years' experience supporting retail systems, equivalent work experience or IT management consulting experience. Solid understanding of retail dynamics within a complex, highly integrated environment

• Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Business, Information Systems or Computer science, or equivalent work experience in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline

• A solid understanding of industry best practices in retail; specific demonstrated experience mapping business processes and comparing those processes to industry best practices

• Technical orientation balanced by project management discipline. Able to supervise internal programmers, analysts, consultants, non-technical business resources and external vendor resources

• Demonstrated track record managing technical application projects

• Able to articulate issues, build consensus around recommendations, define next steps along with defined timeline

• Experience implementing and/or supporting hardware and packaged software solutions

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; outstanding listening skills

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization (i.e. Business Users, Senior Leadership)

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Working experience in Retail, particularly with Store Systems

• Programming experience with any computer language

• Strong analytical, problem solving, root cause analysis, and debugging skills

• Store deployment / field experience - rollout of hardware / software across distributed systems / users

• Vendor Management experience

• Possess an understanding of IT capabilities such as wireless devices, servers and security (cross-functional concepts)

• Experience in dealing with other cross-functional teams (IT or business)

• Demonstrated ability to manage staff remotely, across multiple time zones

• Demonstrated experience strengthening and maintaining inter- and cross-functional relationships (IT, Property Development, Loss Prevention, Store Operations, Inventory Control, etc.)

• Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft One Drive and Visio

• Experience with (Sun Solaris) UNIX and Windows operating systems

• Experience with relational databases - specifically Oracle, SQL Server and Non-STOP SQL

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
