IT Manager, Architecture

GENERAL PURPOSE:


The Manager, Technology Architecture works in conjunction with Senior IT Manager, Technology Architecture and a team of solution architects responsible for evaluating and developing strategic solutions focusing on core enterprise technologies. This individual will help drive both internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions/blueprints fit within the overall Enterprise & Technology Architecture Framework. This position will interface directly with key business units, our IT security team, and other IT groups as required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in the development of the technology roadmap that aligns with the strategic objectives of particular business units and the various technology groups.
  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of technology solution architects that cover various technology disciplines such as networking, storage, systems or other infrastructure technologies. Provide regular and constructive performance feedback to individuals. Responsible for staffing decisions, coaching, development and evaluation of associates.
  • Partner with peers to gain alignment on new technology standards, understand technology impacts to upcoming projects and changes in strategies for their relevant areas.
  • Support the architecture deliverables and milestones for projects as part of the systems development lifecycle. This includes ensuring the projects requirements are defined, architecture deliverables are provided as required and other groups are engaged when appropriate.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial deliverables such as Bill of Materials, quotes, SOW’s and adherence of architecture deliverables to ross standards and project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:


Required:

  • At least 5 years of experience managing a team of solution or enterprise architects.
  • Strong background in infrastructure technologies
  • Experience with major Operation System platforms including Windows server and desktop technologies, UNIX/Linux/Solaris, and virtualization platforms such as VMWare
  • Experience with large enterprise networking technologies and concepts including routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing
  • Experience with Enterprise storage and backup platforms and technologies
  • Experience sizing infrastructure components to meet various application requirements including high availability considerations, disaster recovery needs, security requirements and operational requirements
  • A solid understanding of industry best practices for delivering and supporting infrastructure in retail; or similar industries
  • Demonstrated ability to execute financial analysis for projects and technologies, such as ROI, and TCO
  • Ability to supervise architects, consultants and external vendor resources
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated history of engaging internal customers, including listening, influencing, translating technical details into understandable concepts and building consensus.
  • Undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, or a related technical discipline
  • Preferred:
  • At least 2-5 years experience as a solution or enterprise architect
  • Experience with Citrix VDI platforms and technologies
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Graduate degree

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

  • Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
  • Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
  • Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
