About this opportunity:


The Home Sourcing Coordinator/Associate Merchandiser functions as the operational extension of assigned Director(s), Product Development and Ross Buyer(s). Additionally, this person serves as the liaison between the dd’s Discounts merchant group and overseas agent offices. This includes interaction with Merchants, Overseas Agents and factories in terms of problem resolution and managing the buy trip process (ie. Buy plan, draft POs, tracking shipping, sample approval).

Responsibilities:

Product Direction:

  • Assisting in all processes related to product development and order placement. Utilize product learnings to take the initiative to suggest new product and creative methods of sourcing product to allow dd’s buyer(s) to purchase product otherwise not available in the domestic market.
  • Partners with Director, Direct Imports on weekly selling analysis. Works with Merchants and Director to coordinate fashion and color trends to infuse newness into assortment.
  • Coordinates effectively with overseas agents to obtain appropriate samples, review pre-production packaging, tracking of shipments and confirmation of product testing results. Manage all email communication between Overseas Agents & Merchants.
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing Agent relationships. Demonstrates the ability to adapt communication and negotiation skills within divergent countries and cultures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively utilize the merchandising systems. Assists in purchase order editing, tracking shipments, ticketing resolution and preparation of reporting to allow for interpretation of the business.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical sense. Ability to interpret and take action from selling reports.
  • Ability to keep up with fast pace of job function, maintain up to date and organized files and emails. Meets deadlines and shows ability to prioritize based on business needs.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills. Partners with Director, Direct Imports to assess merchandise mix to continually improve the import assortment. Anticipates potential problems and risks; generates ideas, insights and solutions to resolve or "head off" potential problems. Uses all available data to analyze situations and interpret statistics to recommend timely and sound business decisions. Ability to assess price/value relationship based on knowledge of market conditions.
  • Responsible for maintaining effective collaboration and openly sharing pertinent business information to all divisions. Works effectively with all operational and analytical divisions (dd’s Merchants, Direct Imports Operations, Preticket) to achieve objectives.

  • You have strong retail math skills
  • You have strong analytical and PC skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Preferably, you have 1-2 years of retail merchandising experience
