Finance Manager - Store Ops Finance

GENERAL PURPOSE:


The Finance Manager – Store Operations will manage core financial processes for the Store Operations corporate team that supports Ross and dd’s Discounts. The Finance Manager – Store Operations will report to the Director of Store Operations Finance. This position will manage financials for Store Operations, working to ensure fiscal responsibility and efficiency are maintained through our budgeting, planning, monthly close, and forecast processes for capital and expense. This position will be required to regularly partner and interact with the leadership teams for both Store Operations and Store Finance. This position will have two direct reports.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage annual and 5 Year Planning budget processes for all store operations accounts, for both expense and capital

  • Partner with Store operations teams to build budgets and 5 Year Plans that are based on sound assumptions and analytics, are accurate and submitted on time, and have been appropriately vetted and reviewed by relevant business partners using effective communication materials

  • Build, maintain, and lead a high-performing team to maximize value addition to the company while maintaining high morale

  • Supervise the work of analyst direct reports; coaching and developing analysts to ensure continued growth and development

  • Manage expense and capital tracking, forecasting and expenditure control processes, and support month-end and quarter-end reporting processes

  • Prepare monthly expense and capital forecasts to submit to the Store Operations FP&A team; manage month end close process including accruals, journal entries, budget to actual variance analysis, and other variance explanations as needed

  • Work with business partners to ensure appropriate controls are in place to manage store operations expense and capital spending

  • Manage various complex ad hoc analyses including support of the Store Refresh project, general store performance, project ROI, operational issues, and other topics; effectively communicate the results to senior executives

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in an analytical field)

  • Minimum of 4-6 years post college experience, preferably in Finance with progressive levels of responsibility and control

  • Strong analytical ability – the candidate should be able synthesize data, error check and reconcile own work and manage others to accomplish the same

  • Strong organizational and project management skills – must have demonstrated ability to implement and manage strong control and reporting processes; must be able to drive a project from inception to implementation

  • Previous people management experience is preferred

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate the results of analysis to senior audiences

  • Business Partnership – must have demonstrated ability to navigate across an organization and partner with others to complete complex deliverables

  • Strong fundamental business technical skills – must have strong Excel and PowerPoint skills and have an ability to learn multiple back end software applications (i.e. Hyperion, PeopleSoft Financial Systems, Microstrategy, Sales Audit)

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.

Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.

Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
