Engineer III (Automation)

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for solutions engineering, strategy and research and development around business process management (BPM) and robotic process automation RPA tools. They will set the foundation for development teams to deliver enterprise applications with minimal traditional coding involved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Be the subject matter expert for Digital Automation tools. Build the foundation and strategy around use of the tools.

• Participate with project teams tasked with optimizing and automating business processes using automation and low code solutions

• Business Process Management and RPA
o Work with form builders, pre-built templates and drag and drop visual entity builders
o Research, design, and develop prototypes using automation technologies to demonstrate solution capabilities and fit for Ross environment.
o Develop training tools (manuals, tip sheets, process flow documents), coordinate and conduct end-user training.
o Write documentation to provide user support for programs and for production/operating procedures.

• Systems Analysis and Development
o Analyze user system and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, develop system specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements.
o Research, analyze and evaluate current technical trends, emerging technologies and standards, new software functionality, and alternative software solutions to determine applicability and viability at Ross.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 8+ years of software application design and development experience, with a minimum of 3 years with BPM, workflow and/or RPA tools.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education, industry certifications and relevant experience

• In-depth knowledge of Business Process Management tools, such as K2 or Nintex as well as RPA tools.

• Basic SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and general Web 2.0 techniques experience

• Ability to diagnose application issues and to decide what can be done with automation instead of traditional coding (80/20 rule)

• Understanding of application security with general understanding of current security threats

• Conceptual and practical understanding of IT Infrastructure, products, and services, such as networking protocols, encryption, and other technologies.

• Demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies in the areas of web & mobile application development

• Able to provide accurate estimates of timeframes necessary to complete potential projects and develop milestones and project implementation plans

• Ability to analyze and creatively solve complex technical problems

PREFERRED

• Experience with K2 or other workflow tools

• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, with a focus on PowerApps

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products

• Familiar with modern development practices (Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration / Deployment, etc.)

This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
