Engineer II (Active Directory)

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Active Directory System Engineer is an experienced IT professional who demonstrates expertise with Active Directory Engineering and IT infrastructure. The role assumes responsibility for Active Directory Infrastructure, design, and engineering. Moreover, the role participates in enterprise-wide projects that are classified as medium or highly complex as they pertain to Active Directory infrastructure and services.

The base salary range for this role is $103,500 - $176,550. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Analyze, design, test and deploy Active Directory, Azure AD & Domain Controllers

• Troubleshoot Tier 3 level complex replication and multi domain issues.

• Develop standards, target states, roadmaps, effectively communicating and obtaining consensus across architecture, engineering, and operations teams

• Independently manage and perform engineering role for large scale Active Directory efforts and initiatives

• Perform various functions and duties in support of audit and compliance deliverables

• Develop detailed standards, design and implementation documentation

• Analyze current Active Directory Security Baseline deployments to identify both technical and operational challenges while making recommendations and developing solutions for improvement

• Translate business needs into workable solutions that meet the requirements of enterprise customers and Operations teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

• Candidate must have 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience on Systems Engineering and minimum of 2 years of Active Directory engineering experience. Candidate should have a working understanding of IT infrastructure building blocks including operating system, database, storage, backup, monitoring, network, load balancer, firewall.

• Strong working knowledge of Windows 2016 and 2019 Member Servers and Domain Controller operating systems platforms, DNS, networks, DMZs, network security zones

• PowerShell scripting experience and capabilities

• Working knowledge of ADDS, ADFS, Azure AD, DHCP, DNS, PKI, and Windows Server Operating Systems 2016 & up

• Working knowledge of Group Policy Objects (GPO) experience, Group Policy precedence order and scope of management, WMI filters, Group Policy Preferences, group-based GPO filtering

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple streams of work simultaneously and effectively resolve issues and conflicts to ensure timely delivery

• Ability to work with highly distributed teams across different geographies, and across different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and confidence to be the subject matter expert (SME) Senior Active Directory System Engineer in a large AD environment with the proven ability to coordinate technical efforts and resolve issues across multiple teams.

• Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting capability with an understanding cloud scripting

• Experience working on on-prem and cloud platforms (Azure)

• Microsoft and/or networking certifications.

• Working knowledge of Certificate/CA/PKI infrastructure

• Working knowledge of LDAP and ability to comfortably construct queries

• Ability to apply ITIL v3 Foundation concepts within the workplace.

• Excellent interpersonal and team skills.

• Strong writing skills.

• Understanding of 3rd party management and monitoring solutions (SCCM, SCOM, others)

• Strong presentation skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
This position requires the ability to work in an office environment, including using a computer, attending meetings, working as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with team members and others.  Regular attendance also is a requirement of the position.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, hands on configuration and support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
