Engineer I, Custom Development

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Engineer I is responsible for developing enterprise scale distributed applications using latest technologies such as Angular, Spring Boot, Microservices etc. Participate in system/design/code review. Collaborate with other technology partners to design and build quality, highly scalable custom applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Systems Analysis and Development

• Participate in requirement analysis, technical design and architecture discussions

• Analyze user system and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, develop system specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements.

• Research, analyze and evaluate current technical trends, emerging technologies and standards, new software functionality, and alternative software solutions to determine applicability and viability at Ross.

• Design and develop enterprise scale distributed applications

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 5+ years of software application design and hands-on development experience with latest technologies like Java, Spring Boot etc

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education, industry certifications and relevant experience

• Understanding of application security with general understanding of current security threats

• Conceptual and practical understanding of IT Infrastructure, products, and services, such as networking protocols, encryption, and other technologies.

• Demonstrated ability to learn and acquire new technologies in the areas of web & mobile application development

• Able to provide accurate estimates of timeframes necessary to complete potential projects and develop milestones and project implementation plans

• Ability to analyze and creatively solve complex technical problems

• Ability to work in a group setting and independently
PREFERRED:

• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services etc

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Experience with front end technologies like Angular

• Familiar with Cloud Technologies like Azure Cloud, AWS etc is a plus

• Full stack development experience is a big plus

• Familiar with modern development practices (Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration / Deployment, etc.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
