Director, IT (EUP Software Engineering)

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director, End User Productivity (EUP) Software Engineering will lead the Custom Development, Digital Automation and O365 Engineering teams for IT, including implementation of projects, support and liaison with business customers and internal cross functional IT teams. The position will also be responsible for defining the technology strategy and roadmap for these areas. He/she will lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of solutions to meet business needs in the 5 Year plan. This is a highly visible role with IT executives and directly interfaces with the business community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead, develop and mentor three software engineering teams

• Influence and set strategic direction for Digital Automation technologies, full development stack solutions and O365 tools.

• Consult with senior business leadership to align demand with broader strategic IT initiatives

• Continuously grow and improve the capabilities within the space

• Manage vendor relationships

• Determine optimal org strategy across employees, contractors, on shore, near shore and offshore resources

• Work closely with architecture, security and other IT teams to bring in new technologies or patterns.

• Manage budget, resources and schedules across multiple projects, internal and system integrator staff. Coordinate with other programs and IT's horizontal services

• Identify, manage and communicate issues, risks and dependencies to project stakeholders and sponsors

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• At least 10 to 15 years' experience managing and supporting SW development, processes or capabilities within a Fortune 500 or similar IT environment

• At least 5 years managing custom development teams and software engineers.

• At least 3 years managing matrix teams in an agile delivery environment

• Experience managing teams over 20 FTEs, including subcontractors and offshore resources

• Experience with micro services, API-centric and event driven architectures & application delivery.

• Experience with CI/CD & DevOps

• Demonstrated ability to anticipate and handle critical situations, negotiating solutions and resolving conflicts with customers, IT partners and vendors

• Demonstrated ability to execute basic financial analysis, such as estimating, managing cash flow and ROI

• Demonstrated ability to manage staff remotely, across multiple time zones

• Demonstrated experience in setting and influencing strategic retail business solutions

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to work effectively with VP and above executives

• Leadership skills; able to influence others to the desired outcome, supervise and inspire team members

• Some cloud architecture experience highly desired.

• Track record to lead continuous improvement, R&D and innovation initiatives.

• Some travel may be required

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
