Director, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director will lead, develop, and drive the CSR programs of Ross Dress for Less, dd's DISCOUNTS, and the Ross Stores Foundation. Programs serving our Associates include our hardship, scholarship, matching gift, and volunteer-time off programs. Programs serving our communities include in-store cause campaigns with our national partners, multiple grant-making programs, and disaster-related donations.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, strong project management experience, great attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are all mandatory for this role. The successful candidate can demonstrate their ability to achieve CSR objectives. Experience leading a CSR team at a large retailer is preferred. The Director will report to the Vice President of CSR and Sustainability and will have significant exposure to Ross' senior leadership. The Director will have one direct report, the Senior Analyst of CSR and Philanthropy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Drive the company's CSR strategy by effectively managing our internal and external CSR programs while identifying opportunities for growth, improvement, and innovation.
  • Strengthen Ross' charitable partnerships with existing and new charitable partners. Responsibilities with national partners include managing fundraising and volunteer engagement events (including two in-store cause campaigns) and developing each partnership to meet our programmatic objectives. Responsibilities with our regional partners include leading the process to identify/sustain partnerships and ensure that each partner is fulfilling its commitments. For all partnerships, Director will be expected to strengthen Ross' relationship with the organization and raise awareness of the partnerships among key stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop Associate-facing programs that empower our Associates and enable them to contribute to the communities where they live. For all programs, including the hardship fund, scholarships, matching gift program, and volunteer programs, Director will increase participation and improve execution of the programs across the company by managing the policy, process, and communications.
  • Represent the CSR program internally and externally so that our Associates and community have awareness of our commitments and efforts.
  • Lead and support the professional development of our Dublin-based CSR team. Effectively collaborate with our many business partners across the company.
  • Administer the CSR program, including a well-structured process for managing the budget, reporting impacts, and executing grant agreements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • BA/BS
  • A master's degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus
  • Candidate should have technical knowledge of CSR concepts and best practices; 5-10 years of experience in implementing and guiding CSR programs and initiatives with a large retailer is a plus
  • Track record of excellent people management and team leadership
  • Strong oral and written communication, as the Director will communicate and collaborate with employees at all levels of the company, including C-level executives
  • Ability to balance multiple objectives and coordinate projects with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience building and maintaining external partnerships
  • Analytics skills necessary to evaluate data, assess feasibility, and develop projects
  • Organization and independent worker with clear abilities in solving problems and making strong recommendations
  • Positive attitude and willingness to step into all levels of roles as necessary
  • Strong planning, organizational, and execution skills with unwavering attention to detail
  • Strong PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
