Coordinator I, Payroll

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of hourly associates' payroll. Responsible for processing all off-cycle checks and researching returned checks and reissuing timely. Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of local, state, and/or federal pay and termination regulations. Assist with special projects as needed under the supervision of Payroll Supervisor and/or Sr. Payroll Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Process and balance bi-weekly payrolls for all store hourly associates.

• Timely issuance of termination pay, adjustment pay, or retro pay, following any respective state mandates.

• Review and validate team members off cycles.

• Fund off cycle pay cards on ADP SMART Compliance site.

• Research and process stop payments.

• Research and reissue returned checks.

• Develop cross-functional relationships with Store, Buying Office and Distribution Center personnel that interact with Payroll.

• Respond to all associate inquiries in a timely and effective manner.

• Assist on special projects as assigned.

• Remain current on existing or new payroll guidelines, processes or any legislation impacting payroll.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High School diploma/GED

• Requires 1-2 years of payroll experience.

• Must be able to maintain highest level of confidentiality for all associate payroll and personnel records.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service while working in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and/or mandates.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Strong organizational skills, ability to set priorities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Knowledge of PeopleSoft a plus.

• Strong Excel Skills and overall Microsoft suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires once weekly regular in-office presence or as needed, including ability to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, business partner support. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
