About this opportunity ....

Product Technical Services (PTS) provides technical expertise throughout the buying process and educates Merchants on technical topics.

The Associate Product Technician, PTS, provides expert Technical support to the Merchants and PTS team by managing the day-to-day process. The ideal candidate has technical skills / knowledge (for Apparel or non-Apparel product) and high-level process management skills. The Associate Product Technician will:
  • Own the product review process for assigned product areas and exercise sound and independent judgement to ensure the product is consistent with the Merchant vision including fit, grading and construction standards / guidelines.
  • With the Product Technician, manage the review process for highly complicated product.
  • Manage periodic activities, including such as financial and operational analysis and Merchant trainings that are owned by the PTS team and help to drive productivity.

Own the Product Review process for designated product areas
  • Conduct product checks for designated categories / classifications of product. This includes using sound judgment and discretion on when to escalate issues to Product Technician.
  • Facilitate Merchant product reviews and provide suggested corrections and adjustments on product to ensure that Merchant's vision is achieved.
  • Track sample status and run status reporting; use judgement to follow up as needed to ensure timely reviews.
  • Provide technical product feedback / corrections to vendors and coach vendors on following sample procedures and processes (e.g., proper labeling) as needed.
  • As needed, support creation of basic tech packs for each style, collect relevant information for tech pack for manager's review, including fabric, labeling and construction details.

For more complicated Product Reviews, partner and support Product Technician
  • Support the Product Technician (for designated area) on the Product Review process for more complex product (track sample status, conduct vendor follow ups, provide feedback to vendors, coach vendors on procedures and processes).
  • Partner with manager and Fashion Office in providing expert advice to Merchants on any technical considerations / concerns resulting from current trend information.

Manage periodic activities owned by the PTS Team
  • conduct and support comprehensive competitive and/or internal analysis of fit, grading and construction guidelines by reviewing and analyzing reporting.
  • Facilitate ongoing trainings of Merchants on technical construction for their product area.
  • Train and guide Merchants on using fit forms to support the review of product as applicable.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Design, Production Management, Product Management preferred or Bachelor's Degree and incremental certification or degree in Technical Design, Production Management, Product Management or equivalent experience.
  • 1- 4 years of technical design, product development, production management or equivalent experience.
  • Expert knowledge of materials, construction and production.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
