Forward-looking organizations are discovering how to use data to help them improve how they manage their organization’s greatest asset – their people. Our team collaborates with all levels of the Ross organization from our executives to our national network of buying offices. The Analyst will be responsible for working closely with our team to design, maintain and deploy ground-breaking research of complex HR and business challenges throughout the company to support the continued growth of our business and associates.

Do you have the special blend of data skills and principles we need to build a world-class workforce strategy and analytics team at Ross Stores?


  • Perform analyses and create insightful displays of business trends, associate movements, promotion/retention, and workforce development
  • Design, create, and maintain organizational charts for business leaders and HR partners for the past, present, and future; and prepare related materials for senior executive presentations.
  • Build and maintain large-scale datasets
  • Help partners understand key talent insights and develop action plans through effective communication (e.g., how much did the promotion rate change? Why? How can we return it to historical levels?)
  • Develop new and continuously strive to improve algorithms for business problems related to budgeting, organizational structure, staffing, and talent development.
  • Support department’s relationship with business and other partners.
  • Complete ad hoc projects, as assigned.

Who you are?

  • You have a BA/BS degree (required). Preferred in an applied quantitative or social science discipline, such as Marketing, Psychology, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Demography or similar
  • You have proficiency at an intermediate level in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • You have experience with one of Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, sophisticated Excel charts/graphs, or equivalent
  • You have some experience with one of SQL, R, Python, Java, Visual Basic, C , SPSS, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc. (preferred, not required)
  • You have strong communication skills (both oral and written)
  • You have the ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • You have the ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines, with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities
  • You have the ability to work independently
  • You have 1-3 years of experience in Professional work setting (e.g., Human Resources, academic, internships, consulting or data analytics preferred; not required), or equivalent research experience in a master's or Ph.D. program
