Analyst, Benefits

GENERAL PURPOSE:


Responsible for health and welfare plan administration and vendor management. Participates in highly specialized and complex benefits projects requiring considerable expertise and creativity. Evaluates and interprets Company benefits policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Manages Affordable Care Act required filings and communications. Works closely with third-party service providers on operational issues and strategic planning. Interfaces with Human Resources and business partners on health and welfare escalated issues and problem resolution.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Vendor management of third-party service providers, including the review of service level agreements and vendor searches.
  • Provide ongoing analysis on trends, legislative changes and best practices.
  • Interface with Ross HR on escalated associate issues and research with vendors as appropriate. Work directly with insurance carriers and third-party service providers to resolve issues with eligibility and claims.
  • Produce and review audit reports.
  • Manage department invoices.
  • Support the annual Open Enrollment process; assist with maintaining and updating Benefits portal.
  • Work with third-party service provider to process monthly premium reports for vendors.
  • Recommend system changes and enhancements to ensure effective tracking and management of benefits data.
  • Work closely with third-party service provider on escalated issues and problem resolution.
  • Provide ongoing support for Wellness Program and onsite benefits events.
  • Process benefits deductions for exempt payroll.
  • Partner with Store Operations on benefits communications.
  • Ensure that benefits plans are administered according to plan provisions; responsible for compliance with all Company and regulatory guidelines including 5500’s and Summary Annual Reports.
  • Assist with new initiatives; manage new product or vendor implementations, and other special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of five years prior benefits experience.
  • Prior PeopleSoft experience essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Work independently.
    • Review and analyze data to identify and resolve problems.
    • Identify root cause of issues.
    • Use on-line systems/applications to support the work being preformed (Microsoft Word and Excel, PeopleSoft HR, Payroll and Benefits Administration Systems).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Prior experience managing third-party benefits vendors.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to organize own work and set priorities with minimum supervision.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of associates.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:


No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.

Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.

Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands.

Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
