GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the ongoing management and facilitation of all New Store Opening supply related activities for Ross and dd’s. This includes issuing/processing orders and payments, vendor interactions and working with business partners to support the process of supply purchasing, troubleshooting issues, and reacting quickly to field requests during each opening round.

The candidate must be detail oriented, self-sufficient, dependable, timely, able to function in a fast-paced retail environment, and must have strong interpersonal skills. This individual will also have the opportunity to maintain a close working relationship with Store Operations and Field Management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Review supply needs for each New Store Opening round and provide forecast to vendors, as well as, issuing Purchase Orders (POs), reconciling invoices (with AP), tracking orders, and at times negotiating costs with suppliers during budget planning activities.

• Maintain day-to-day responsibilities including error-free PO execution, expense control, manage vendor inventory, and review initiatives from business partners that may affect future spend

• Maintain data integrity of all supply items to ensure supply catalogs are up to date with contracted pricing, specifications, lead times/transit times, and descriptions. Maintain current vendor lists.

• Respond to inquiries and requests from assigned business partners.

• Work to develop best practices on process, execute tasks related to projects and time sensitive requests.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with the New Store team to ensure successful execution of store openings

• Owns the facilitation and execution of all New Store Opening supply purchasing processes including, managing expenses and budgets

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• 2-3 years of purchasing/procurement experience.

• Must be proficient in MS Office, especially in Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, etc.).

• Strong Customer focus. Anticipates customer needs and takes action to meet them; continually searches for ways to increase customer satisfaction and improve process.

• Ability to successfully influence and drive results through cross-functional partnerships.

• Strong execution and follow through.

• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently, with minimal direction.

• Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.

Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.

Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
